Are we sure that Daniel 11 parallels Daniel 8-9? How can we be sure? Note the following parallel imagery.

Note: the highlighted parallels (phrases, words, or collections of these) are critical parallels, i.e. they are used to establish and enforce the following parallels.

Daniel 8 & 9
Daniel 11
The ram which thou sawest having two horns are the kings of Media and Persia. vs. 8:20
...Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than they all... vs. 2
And the rough goat is the king [or kingdom] of Grecia... vs. 8:21

...and by his strength through his riches he shall stir up all against the realm of Grecia. vs. 2
...and when he [the he goat] was strong, the great horn was broken; and for it came up four notable ones toward the four winds of heaven. vs. 8:8
...and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king. Now that being broken, whereas four stood up for it, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation... vss. 8:21,22
And a mighty king shall stand up... And when he shall stand up, his kingdom shall be broken, and shall be divided toward the four winds of heaven; vss. 3,4

And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full... vs. 8:23
...also the robbers of thy people shall exalt themselves to establish the vision; but they shall fall. vs. 14
...a king of fierce countenance [face], and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up. vs. 8:23
He shall also set his face to enter with the strength of his whole kingdom... vs. 17
After this shall he turn his face unto the isles, and shall take many... vs. 18
Then he shall turn his face toward the fort of his own land: but he shall stumble and fall, and not be found. vs. 19
And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great ... toward the pleasant land. vs. 8:9
...and he shall stand in the glorious land, which by his hand shall be consumed. vs. 16
...from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince... vs. 9:25
...and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary... vs. 9:26
And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week... vs. 9:27
Note: (not same Heb. word for "prince"!)
Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host... vs. 8:11
...he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes... vs. 8:25
And with the arms of a flood shall they be overflown from before him, and shall be broken; yea, also the prince of the covenant. vs. 22
Note: (other occurrences of "covenant")
...and his heart shall be against the holy covenant... vs. 28
...therefore he shall be grieved, and return, and have indignation against the holy covenant: ... he shall even return, and have intelligence with them that forsake the holy covenant. vs. 30
And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries... vs. 32
And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven... vs. 8:10
...and he shall magnify himself in his heart... vs. 8:25
...and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god... vs. 36
...for he shall magnify himself above all. vs. 37
...and he shall magnify himself in his heart... vs. 8:25
And he shall stir up his power and his courage [heart] against the king of the south with a great army... vs. 25
And both these kings’ hearts shall be to do mischief... vs. 27
...and his heart shall be against the holy covenant... vs. 28
...and by peace shall destroy many... vs. 8:25
He shall enter peaceably even upon the fattest places of the province... vs. 24
...and by him the daily was taken away... vs. 8:11
...and shall take away the daily... vs. 31
...and the place of his sanctuary was cast down. vs. 8:11
Note: (not same Heb. word for "sanctuary"!)
...to give ... the sanctuary ... to be trodden under foot? vs. 8:13
...then shall the sanctuary be cleansed. vs. 8:14
...and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength... vs. 31

So indeed Daniel 8-9 & 11 are parallels!
