Lucifer, the original Antichrist!

Study:

Recall Revelation 12 and the structures of it. We will just look at the top of the structures.

Revelation 12:1-4b
Revelation 12:7-9
... And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon... And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven,
And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
and did cast them to the earth:...

And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Recall that "...that old serpent ... which deceiveth the whole world..." references the Fall of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. Thus,

  • Pink: the Fall of Lucifer, and
  • Blue: the Fall of Adam and Eve.

Why bring this up? Because there are two texts concerning Satan that reference these two Falls: Isaiah 14:12- etc. and Ezekiel 28:12- etc.

"How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground..." Isaiah 14:12

Ever wondered about this name Lucifer? According to Strong's Hebrew Dictionary, it means "morning star." Notice that this is confirmed in some of the newer Bible translations.

"How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth,..." Isaiah 14:12 (NIV)

"How art thou fallen from heaven, O day-star, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground,..." Isaiah 14:12 (ASV)

"“How you have fallen from heaven, O star of the morning [light-bringer], son of the dawn! You have been cut down to the ground,..." Isaiah 14:12 (AMP)

"“How you have fallen from heaven, O star of the morning, son of the dawn! You have been cut down to the earth,..." Isaiah 14:12 (NASB1995)

"“How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, son of Dawn! How you are cut down to the ground,..." Isaiah 14:12 (RSV)

Notice that Jesus is called the "morning star" or "day star."

"I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star." Revelation 22:16

"We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:" 2 Peter 1:19

Why are both Jesus and Satan called the "morning star"? How could they both be the "morning star"?

Notice now the garden of Eden, some interesting characteristics of it.

"And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day:..." Genesis 3:8

"So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims,..." Genesis 3:24

So associated with the garden of Eden is,

  1. God,
  2. an eastern entrance, and
  3. Cherubim.

Is this reminiscent of anything? Yes! The tabernacle. God is in the most Holy place, where the cherubim flank his presence over the mercy seat and its entrance is on the east.

"And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel." Exodus 25:22

"And thou shalt put the mercy seat upon the ark of the testimony in the most holy place." Exodus 26:34

"But those that encamp before the tabernacle toward the east, even before the tabernacle of the congregation eastward,..." Numbers 3:38

So indeed, just like the garden of Eden, the tabernacle, more specifically, the most Holy place, has

  1. God's presences,
  2. an eastern entrance, and
  3. Cherubim.

Why is this important? Why bring this up? Because the garden of Eden was the first earthly sanctuary. It is the original tabernacle and because there was no separation between God and man at the time, it just consisted of a most Holy place and man lived there and freely associated with God.

Now with this knowledge, that the garden of Eden was the first tabernacle, notice the description of Satan.

"Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created." Ezekiel 28:13

Did you know that this description, the gold and precious stones, matches that of the breastplate of the high priest?

"And thou shalt make the breastplate of judgment with cunning work; ... And thou shalt set in it settings of stones, even four rows of stones: the first row shall be a sardius, a topaz, and a carbuncle: this shall be the first row. And the second row shall be an emerald, a sapphire, and a diamond. And the third row a ligure, an agate, and an amethyst. And the fourth row a beryl, and an onyx, and a jasper: they shall be set in gold in their inclosings." Exodus 28:15-20

Isn't that a little uncanny? The match isn't perfect because Satan is missing the entire third row of stones of the breastplate.

So why are both Jesus and Satan called "morning star"? And why does Satan have all of the stones of the high priest's breastplate, save one row? But then the garden of Eden was the first earthly sanctuary and he was in it! Sounds like antichrist! He was trying to replace Christ. He took Christ's name, "morning star", then tried to take his high priestly office.

In summary:

Both Jesus, in His pre-incarnate form, and Satan were in the garden of Eden, the first earthly tabernacle!
