Structure of the mountains in Revelation

Study:

Notice the occurrences of "mountain," Greek ὄρος - oros, in Revelation:

"And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:" Revelation 6:14-16

"And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood;" Revelation 8:8

"And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads." Revelation 14:1

"And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found." Revelation 16:20

"And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth." Revelation 17:9

"And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God," Revelation 21:10

What do we know of these 6 texts? What are we certain of?

1. Revelation 6:14-16 refers to the Second Coming! We know this from a comparison with Matthew 24.

Revelation 6:12-16 (the 6th Seal)
Matthew 24 (and parallels)
"the sun became black
as sackcloth of hair" vs. 12
"the sun be darkened" vs. 29
"the moon became as blood" vs. 12
"the moon shall not give
her [normal?] light" vs. 29
"...the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind." vs. 13
"the stars shall fall from heaven" vs. 29
"And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together..." vs. 14
"And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven..." vs. 30
"And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?" vss. 15-17

"...then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory." vs. 30

"For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels;..." Matthew 16:27

"Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God." Luke 22:69

2. Revelation 8:8, it's "great mountain burning with fire," refers to Babylon as its closest parallel is Jeremiah 51:25.

"Behold, I am against thee, O destroying mountain, saith the Lord, which destroyest all the earth: and I will stretch out mine hand upon thee, and roll thee down from the rocks, and will make thee a burnt mountain.

3. Revelation 14:1 refers to Jerusalem as Zion/mount Zion is another name for Jerusalem.

"This is the word that the Lord hath spoken concerning him;
The virgin the daughter of Zion hath despised thee, and laughed thee to scorn;
the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee." 2 Kings 19:21

"For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant,
and they that escape out of mount Zion:
the zeal of the Lord of hosts shall do this. " 2 Kings 19:31

4. Revelation 16:20 refers to the Second Coming as it appears to parallel Revelation 6:14.

"...and every mountain and island were moved out of their places." Revelation 6:14

"And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found [because they fled away (or are moved out of their places)?]." Revelation 16:20

5. Revelation 17:9 refers to Babylon as the woman sitting on seven mountain is named Babylon.

"And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH." Revelation 17:5

6. Revelation 20:10 refers to Jerusalem as  the verse says "...and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God."

Notice this these verses describe a structure.

Structure:

A
B
C
A'
B'
C'
The 2nd Coming (Rev. 6:14-16) (6th Seal)
Babylon (Revelation 8:8) (2nd Trumpet)
The New Jerusalem (Revelation 14:1)
The 2nd Coming (Revelation 16:20)
Babylon (Revelation 17:9) (7th Plague)
The New Jerusalem (Revelation 21:10)

Notice the following things now...

Layer A:

This structure just confirms the connection between Revelation 6:14-16 and Revelation 16:20, that both the 6th Seal and the 7th Plague are the Second Coming.

Layer B:

Revelation 8:8, the 2nd Trumpet, describes the Fall of Rome as Revelation 17:9's Babylon, the woman, is the city of Rome.

"... The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth." Revelation 17:9

"And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth." Revelation 17:18

Layer C:

In Revelation 14:1 we have "...a Lamb ... and with him an hundred forty and four thousand..." and in Revelation 21:9,10...

"And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb’s wife. And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God," Revelation 21:9,10

This is another of those texts that imply that the 144,000 is the bride of Christ.
